Hi! I'm Jeremy Troy

I help documentary filmmakers make trailers that attract funders and excite audiences.

“Every time I’ve recommended Jeremy to a filmmaker they’ve circled back to tell me how great their experience was working with him.”

Lois Vossen

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, INDEPENDENT LENS

Here's the problem...

You know you need a trailer, but don't know where to start... Oh, and you're always fundraising.

You are working to produce a documentary film and telling a story that needs to be told, but securing funding feels like a full time job.

  • You’re working with a low, or no budget.
  • Funders are busy and don’t respond to your emails.
  • You’re stuck in a cycle of production and fundraising outreach.
  • You need funding to start, continue, or finish your film.

There must be a better way...

Quickly convey the heart and soul of your film to excite funders and audiences.

(and anyone else for that matter)

Can you picture how it will feel when you reach out to a funder and you know your trailer will get them hooked?

  • Imagine how it would feel to have a funder instantly say “Yes! How do we get involved?”
  • Imagine that all your hard work results in your film getting the attention it deserves.
  • Imagine that when you reach out to a film festival they’re eager to learn more about your project.
  • Imagine the peace of mind knowing that you are giving your film the best shot at success.

Don't waste another minute...

Make a trailer that will attract funding, impress distributors, and wow audiences...now!

I’ve got bad news…you’ve been misled.

You’ve been led to believe that you should wait until your film is complete to make a trailer.

But that is simply not true.

A trailer is the most powerful tool you have to raise funds and build excitement for your project.

Having a compelling trailer done as soon as you can is a top priority.

Funders are busy. They don’t always have the time to read a lengthy synopsis, review a lookbook, or watch a 12 minute demo cut.

In a fast-paced media landscape where time is at a premium, a trailer is your best tool to convey the value and vision of your film.

You need to be sure you get it right.

And best of all?

You don’t have to wait until the end of production to get started.

ART SHAY: AN AMERICA SO REAL

Ahoy! I'm Jeremy Troy, and I help documentary filmmakers attract funders, excite audiences, and create opportunities for their projects by empowering them to create trailers that work.

I have been immersed in documentary filmmaking for nearly two decades, specializing in creating trailers for an array of projects. I’ve worked with major networks and organizations like PBS, ITVS, CBS, and Showtime, and have contributed to acclaimed series and films such as “Independent Lens,” “Newtown,” “The Force,” “Chasing Trane,” and the Oscar-nominated films “I Am Not Your Negro”, and “American Justice On Trial: People v. Newton”.

My work has been recognized by the Emmy’s, Telly’s, IFTA, and Golden Trailer Awards.

In my many years working with filmmakers I saw the same obstacles come up again and again. Filmmakers lacked critical knowledge and skills to understand how to make a compelling trailer and why it is so important to the success of their film.

Along with my brother Collin (you’ll see him around), I started Indie Doc Trailer (IDT), to help independent filmmakers, like you, get your film the attention it deserves.

The passion of independent documentary filmmakers is what drives my commitment. IDT is my lover letter to you, dear filmmaker. I see it as my mission to empower you to be as successful as possible.

Once you take the next step, you won’t see your film or your trailer the same way again. Are you ready to unlock your film’s potential? 💚
